Some of the visuals could be partially rendered on DirectX, but they ended up downgraded. That is proof that a good port job was possible, but again, different games had their own programming quirks that allowed them to look good on the PS2, and those same quirks were a huge problem for PC's APIs. Still lacking in some features, but really good, no wonder it was ported by Team Silent themselves.

The best port from PS2 to PC would be Silent Hill 3, as it is almost identical. Good examples are games like The Matrix: Path of Neo, Devil May Cry 3, Metal Gear Solid 3 and GTA: San Andreas. It had poor memory and CPU, but its complex architecture allowed developers to create great visual effects to compensate for that. Their pipelines were far weaker in comparison, and that's where PS2 drew its strength from. I'm emphasizing that due to PS2's weird architecture, games originally made on the PS2 were very hard to port with all the visual features intact (namely shader effects), since APIs like DirectX 8 and even 9 were incapable of rendering more complex effects. I never said PCs were weaker than PS2, that's not the point. You're talking about an entirely different thing.
